Common Name The Cataniapo Coryanthes [Río Cataniapo in the Amazon Territory of Venezuela]

Flower Size 4.8" [12 cm]

Found in Amazonas state of Venezuela and Brazil in wet forests at elevations around 100 meters as a hot growing epiphyte with a short rhizome giving rise to ovoid to narrowly ovoid, grooved pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, oblong-elliptic, acuminateplicate, 3 conspicuous nerved, narrowing below into the sulcate petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter and spring on a pendant, 7.2" to 10" [18 to 25 cm] long, 1 to 2 flowered inflorescence.

Differs from C macrantha in the globose hypochile with the anterior margin almost reaches the epichile and in the toothlike rojections near the base of the mesochile.
