Found only in Costa Rica in very wet forests on shady tree trunks at elevations of sea level to 300 meters as a medium to large sized, hot growing epiphyte that blooms in the spring on a pendent, 1 to 4 flowered inflorescence carrying fragrant flowers.
This species is often found in conjunction with ants and may benefit from their presence.
