Found in New Zealand, Chatham Island and the Antipodean Islands in bush and scrub in damp leaf litter as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with an oblong, purpleveined,, rarely all purple, undulate margined leaf that blooms in the late winter and spring on a mostly single, sometimes 2 flowered inflorescence with a large, undulat margined floral bract
