Found in Colombia in very wet, cold sub paramo and Paramo as well as dwarf forests at elevations around 2500 to 3350 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with 6, basal, rosulate, narrow, lanceolate to linear-lanceoalte, acute, sessile to petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, delicate, long-pedunculate, 8" [20 cm] long, glandular above, enveloped by 4 sheaths, rachis to 2" [5 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, sparsely glandular floral bracts and carrying inconspicuous, medium sized flowers.
