Found in Boyaca, Cundinamarca, Cauca, Nariño and Putumayo departments of + Colombia in very wet, cold sub paramo and Paramo as well as dwarf forests at elevations around 2500 to 3350 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with 6, basal, rosulate, narrow, lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, acute, almost sessile to petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, delicate, long-pedunculate, 6" [15 cm] long, glandular above, enveloped by 4 sheaths, rachis to 2" [5 cm] long, cylindrical, densely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, sparsely glandular, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying inconspicuous, medium sized flowers.

Resembles Cranichis lehmannii but differs in the strongly falcate petals and the lip not ornamented with a callus.
