Found in Jalisco, Oaxaca and Chiapas states of Mexico on steep moist banks in wet montane and cloud forests at elevations of [300] 1200 to 1800 [3000] meters as a miniature to medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with 2 to 4, basal, rosulate, ovate, acute to short-acuminate, broadly cuneate to subtruncate below into the slender, channeled, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, slender, glabrous below, glandular pubescent above, 2 to 4 sheathed, 8" [20 cm] long overall, rachis 1.6" [4.5 cm] long, loosely 17 to 24 flowered, apically nodding [with the immature flowers] inflorescence carrying non-resupinate, showy flowers.
