Common Name or Meaning The Cylindrical Inflorescence Cranichis

Found in Cauca department of Colombia and El Oro province of Ecuador at elevations of 620 to 1500 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with 3 to 4 basal, ovate, subacuminate, basae obliquely cordate to cuneate, narrowing below into the canaliculate, petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, glabrous, peduncle 9.2 to 12" [23 to 30 cm] long, provided with a few remote sheathing bracts, rachis 4.4 to 6" [11 to 15 cm] long, cylindrical, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous, shorter to as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying small, glabrous flowers.
"Similar to Cranichis lehmannii but differs in the length and form of the inflorecence. C cylindrostachys and this species are very similar and separated mostly by the shorter 1 to 4.2" [2.5 to 10.5 cm] long, conical inflorescence verus in C cylindrostachys it is 4.4 to 6" [11 to 15 cm] long and cylindrical" Szlachetko & Kolanowska 2020
