Found in Cauca and Cundinamarca departments of Colombia in montane forests and along streams at elevations of 2200 to 3000 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with 1 to 3, in a basal rosette, ovate-lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, acute to acuminate, cuneate below into the canaliculate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late spring on an erect, terminal, peduncle 5.6 to 37.6" [14 to 39 cm] long, provided with 5 to 6 sheathing bracts, rachis 3.6" [9 cm] long, cylindrical, rather dense, many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, hglabrous, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
"Distinguished by the suborbicular to obovate lip with a cuneate base, a single veined dorsal sepal and obscurely 2 veined lateral sepals. C. neglecta can be easily distinguished from C. diphylla by having A glabrous ovary (vs. more or less glandular), 1-veined dorsal sepal (vs. 3-veined), and a suborbicular to obovate lip arising from the cuneate base, almost flat, margins somewhat undulate, with disc devoid of nodules (vs. lip subcordate at base, ovate to broadly elliptic in outline, margins flat, disc obcordately papillose-thickened with three branching, often glandular veins from the base to the middle of the lip)."
