Found in Costa Rica in deep shade of virgin, wet cloud forests at elevations around 1500 to 2700 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a single, dark green reticulate with white, lanceolate, acuminate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later summer and fall on an erect, terminal, peducle 7" [17.5 cm] long, provided with 1 to 2, subfoliaceousa sheathing bracts, rachis succcessively single, laxly few flowered inflorescence with ovate, apiculate, almost as long as the ovary floral bracts
