Common Name or Meaning Schultes' Cranichis [American Co Collector of the type 1915- 2001]

Found in Norte de Santander department of Colombia in premontane forest at an altitude of 1600 to 1800 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial with 1 to 2, basal, ovate, acute, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the earlier fall on an erect, termianal, peduncle 8.2" [20.5 cm] long, provided with 5 to 6 sheathing bracts, glandular below the rachis, rachis 1.8" [4.5 cm] long, cylindrical, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying white, glabrous flowers.

" The new entity can be distinguished from C. roldanii by its 3-veined sepals (vs. 1-veined), petals ciliate along the upper part of the outer margin (vs. entire outer margin long-ciliate), and apiculate (vs. non-apiculate) lip." Szlachetko & Kolanowska 2019
