Common Name or Meaning The Ovate Lip Cranichis

Found in Cauca department of Colombia and Amazonas department of Peru in montane forests at elevations of 2000 to 2700 meters as as small to medium sized, cold growing tterretrial with a single, basal, white to yellowish spotted, elliptic-lanceolate to ovate, acuminate, subrounded below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on an erect, terminal, peduncle 6.4 to 15.2" [16 to 38 cm] long, glandular-pilose towards the apex, provided with 5 to 6 sheathing bracts, racdhis .8 to 1.6" [2 to 4 cm] long, cylindrical, sublaqxly to subdensely 15 flowered infdlorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, sparsely glandular basally, shorter than the voary floral bracts and carrying small, glabrous flowers.
