Found in Costa Rica in oak forest in valleys at elevations of 2350 to 2450 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with 3 to 4, near basal, ovate to ovate-elliptic, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, several sheathed peduncle, 8 to 12" [20 to 30 cm] long overall, rachis 1 to 2" [2.5 to 5 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence .
