Common Name Wagener's Cranichis [German Plant collector in Venezuela 1800's]

Flower Size small

Found in Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Districto Federal state of Venezuela, Magdalena, Boyaca and Valle de Cauca departments of Colombia and Peru in humid montane forests at elevations around 2000 to 2800 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with 1 to 2 basal, broadly ovate-cordate, acute, with entire to crenulate margins, petiolate to subsessile basally leaves that blooms in the spring and fall on an erect, peduncle to 4.8 to 8.8" [12 to 22 cm ] long, glandular-pubescent, provided and enveloped below by 5 to 8, tubular, pellucid, amplexicaul, acute sheathing bracts, rachis to 3.2" [8 cm] long, subcapitate, laxly many flowered, inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, glabrous, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying successively 1 to 3 open at one time, short-lived, small, glabrous, non-resupinate flowers.
