Common Name Wagener's Cranichis [German Plant collector in Venezuela 1800's]

Flower Size small

Found in Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia and Peru at elevations around 1000 to 2000 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial with 1 to 2 basal, broadly ovate-cordate, acute, petiolate to subsessile basally with entire to crenulate margins that blooms in the fall on an erect, to 8" [20 cm] long, glandular-pubescent, densely many flowered, subcapitate inflorescence enveloped below by pellucid, amplexicaul, acute bracts and has shorter or as long as the ovary, ovate, acuminate, glabrous floral bracts and carrying successively 1 to 3 at one time, short-lived, non-resupinate flowers.
