Found in Jianxzi province of China, Japan, the Ryukyus and Korea in mixed forests at elevations of 900 to 1000 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with globose, jointed pseudobulbs enveloped by scarious sheaths and carrying 2, apical, plicate, ovate to ovate-elliptic to lanceolate-elliptic, acute leaves that blooms in the spring on a scapose, erect, 10 to 16" [25 to 40 cm] long, loosely several flowered inflorescence
