Found in Valle de Cauca department of Colombia in montane forests at elevations around 2000 to 2250 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with an elongate, terete rhizome giving rise to an an erect, short stem carrying 12, to 15, lanceolate, acute, subpetiolate to sessile base leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, peduncle to .4" [1 cm] long, keeld below each floral bract, hexagonal in cross-section, rachis 2.08" [5.2 cm] long, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with triangular, subacuminate, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying transluscent light green flowers.
