Found in Java, Sumatra, Sabah and Sarawak Borneo in hill and lower montane forests at elevations of 900 to 2700 meters as a small sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial with a short fleshy rhizome giving rise to erect, obliquely ovate, acute, acuminate, obliquely rounded basally, shiny green above, paler beneath, dull purple spotted [not blotched], petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on a terete, pale green, longitudinally striped, to 16" [40 cm] long, slightly zig zag, lax, many flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute, long acuminate floral bracts that are pressed against the ovary
