Common Name Hunter's Cryptostylis - In Australia - Furred Tongue Orchid - The Leafless Tongue Orchid

Found as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial occuring in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, Australia at elevations of 50 to 1100 meters where it grows on Spear Grass-Tree plains and adjacent heathlands, in moist sandy soils with an erect stem carrying no leaves that will bloom in the winter through summer on an erect, yellowish, to 18" [to 45 cm] long, 1 to 10 flowered inflorescence apparantly with fragrant flowers.
