Found in Colombia and eastern Ecuador in very wet montane forests at elevations around 1000 to 1500 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with an erect, short stem enveloped completely by distichously arranged, coriaceous, narrowly linear leaves that blooms in the spring and early summer on a few basal, 3 to 5" [7.5 to 12.5 cm] long, single flowered, arcuate inflorescence enveloped by several vaginate sheaths with the uppermost enveloping the ovary and the lip spur.
