Common Name The Stunted Column Cyrtochilum
Flower Size .8" [2 cm]
Found in Peru in cloud forests climbing in thick brush at elevations around 2900 meters as a large sized, cold growing terrestrial or epiphyte with an elongate rhizome with 2.87 to 4" [7 to 10 cm] between each ovoid pseudobulb carrying 2, apical, conduplicate, linear leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, loosely paniculate, to [2.5 meters] long, .
Bennett & Christenson realized that Bennett & Dodson's drawing in Icones Plantarum Tropicarum plate 126 1989 was in fact not Oncidium falcipetalum but a heretofore new species that they christened C confusum on the backside of Icones Orchidacearum Peruviarum Plate 624 [Cyrtochilum pluritubercualtum] Bennett & Christenson 2001 .
