Common Name Blanchet's Cyrtopodium [French Orchid Collector mid 1800's]

Found in Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Distrito Federal and Bahia states of Brazil at elevations around 1200 meters in sands often among rocks as a medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with the small, ovoid to elliptic, clustered pseudobulbs almost always buried under ground, the new leaves arising after it flowers, they are erect, linear, acute, green and glaucous. The erect, to 28" [to 70 cm] long, many [15] flowered, racemose to occasionally paniculate inflorescence arises well after leaf fall and just before the new growth arises in late spring.
