Common Name The Silky Cyanicula - The Silky Blue China Orchid

Flower Size 1.4 to 2" [3.5 to 5 cm]

Found as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing, terrestrial species in Western Australia in Jarrah forests and dense coastal scrub or on granite outcrops in well drained rocky and sandy soils at elevations of 5 to 250 meters with a densely and shortly, silky-hairy, green leaf that blooms in the winter and early spring on an erect, 6 to 16" [15 to 40 cm] long, 1 to 4 flowered inflorescence. This species requires fires to stimulate blooming.
