Common Name The Goias Pelexia [A state of Brazil]
Flower Size
Found in Goias and Parana states of Brazil at elevations of 800 to 1100 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial orchid with no leaves at blooming which occurs in the late winter and early spring on a terminal, erect, peduncle 2.4 to 4" [6 to 10 cm] long, rachis 1" [2.5 cm] long, subsecund 3 to 6 flowered inflorescence with erect-patent, lanceolate, acuminate, slightly longer than the ovary floral bracts.
"A rather distinctive species, barely a span tall, with a stiff stem with a few flowered, very loose, one sided rachis. The basal leaves appear to be more or less withered at blooming. The flower is distingushed by the sepals that extend further down than in most others in the genus. The lip is oblong-lanceolate, saggitate at the base and broadened anteriorly into a small, rounded lobe. The claw is longer than most species in the genus". Schlechter 1920
