Found in Florida, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Bahamas, Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Leewards, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Windwards, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in lower montane forests at elevations around 100 to 100 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with a tuber giving rise to several, erect-patent, ovate, acute, basally round and petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, 1 to 3.2" [2.5 to 8 cm] long, laxly several flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, long-acuminate, basally glabrous and puberulous bracts.

Distinguished by the densely many flowered inflorescence, the elliptic to ovate, green, basally rounded leaves, the obtuse, 3 lobed lip and the lip margins that are not thickened.
