Found in Puebla, Veracruz, Queretaro and Oaxaca states of Mexico and Guatemala? at elevations around 1100 to 1300 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with elliptic-oblong to elliptic ovate, shortly acuminate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late fall and early winter on an erect, peduncle 8.4 to 21.6" [21 to 54 cm] long, provided with 4 to 6, shorter than the internodes, glabrous sheathing bracts, rachis 1.6 to 1.8" [4 to 4.5 cm] long, dense pyramidical, 20 to 25 flowered inflorescence inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, much longer than the flowers floral bracts and carrying small, white green flowers.
Similar in habit to Cyclopogon prasophyllus but it is somewhat more robust and on average taller with a slender peduncle and with somewhat smaller flowers held in a loose raceme
