Common Name or Meaning The Secund Cyclopogon [refers tothe inflorescence]

Found in Valle de Cauca department of Colombia Pastaza and Imbabura provinces of Ecuador at elevations around 1400 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial with 2 to 4, rosulate, elliptic, attenuate, subacute, petiolate base leaves that blooms inn the late spring on an erect, terminal, peduncle to 5.6 to 7.6[14 to 19 cm] long, slender, provided with several approximate, lanceolate, acciculate apically sheathing bracts, rachis 1.8 to 2.8" [4.5 to 7 cm] long, 10 to 15 floowered inflorescence with narrowly linear-lanceolate, aciculate, conspicuous longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying tubular flowers with the tepals greeenish white suffused with purple toward the base and a white lip.

"C secundus is similar to Cyclopogon ovalifolius but differs in the dense, seccund inflorescence and the pubescent apex of the lip. C ovalifolium has the flowers borne in a loose cylindrical raceme and the lip apex is glabrous." Christenson 2007
