Found in Madagascar along the coast and along rivers in forests at elevations of sealevel to 1000 [1450] meters as a medium to large sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with cylindrical, close set pseudobulbs carrying in a fan, loriform, lanceolate leaves that blooms in the late spring summer and early fall on an erect, basal, to 32" [to 80 cm] long, paniculate inflorescence
