Common Name or Meaning The Elongate Cymbidium

Flower Size 1.6" [4 cm]

Found in Borneo [Sabah, Sarawak] near Mount Kinabalu at elevations of 1200 to 2300 meters in marshy areas of open scrubby montane woodlands as a medium to giant sized, cool to cold growing, monopodial, scrambling terrestrial orchid with a simple, elongate, erect to reclining stem enveloped completely by persistent, leaf-less to leaf-bearing sheaths with the lowermost being fiberous and the uppermost carrying, 4 to 8, distichous, broadly linear, ensiform to ligulate, conduplicate, gently curving, obtuse, mucronate, coriaceous, articulated to the leaf sheaths leaves that blooms in the spring and fall in situ on an axillary, lax, 1 to 4 flowered, racemose inflorescence enveloped by 6, narrowly elliptic, acute to acuminate, scarious, basal bracts both concealed within the conduplicate leaf blade and has ovate to triangular-ovate, acute, scarious floral bracts and carries slightly fragrant flowers.

This species only tentatively fits within the section Floribundum and more research needs to be done to place it more securely here or within another section
