Common Name Master's Cymbidium [Gardener at Calcutta Botanical Garden 1800's] - In China Da Xue Lan

Found in the Assam India, eastern Himalayas, Bhutan, Myanmar, northern Thailand and China at elevations of 900 to 2400 meters on trees and rocks in evergreen montane forests as a large sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte, lithophyte or occasional terrestrial on humus, moss or rotting wood with elongate-ellipsoid, stem-like pseudobulbs carrying 6 to 17, distichous, ligulate, arched, tapering, unequally bilobed apically leaves which blooms in the fall and winter on an axillary, suberect, few to several [2 to 15] flowered, sheathed, 10 to 12" [25 to 30 cm] long inflorescence carrying close set, fragrant [almonds] flowers.
