Common Name The Rhizome Cymbidium [Refers to the long rhizome with short Pseudobulbs] - In China Er Ye Lan

Found in southeastern Yunnan province of China and possibly Vietnam at elevations of 1200 to 1500 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing terrestrial with a subterranean, whitish yellow, cylindric rhizome giving rise to small wartlike pseudobulbous outgrowths and carrying 2, basal, arising after blooming, narrowly elliptic to elliptic, thinly leathery, contracted below into the shortly petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later summer on a erect, slender, greenish, 6 to 8" [15 to 20 cm] long, 1 to 3 flowered inflorescence with several greenish sheaths and greenish, narrowly ovate floral bracts.

Differs from the similar C lancifolium by having some floral differences as well as that the leaves appear after blooming.
