Found in southeastern Madagascar in montane, ericaceous scrub in humus at elevations of 1800 to 2000 meters as a small to medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with 2 oblong tubers giving rise to a slender, subfiliform, glabrous stem basally surrounded by a few braown sheathswithout leaves that blooms in the early summer on an erect, peduncle 10 to 18" [25 to 45 cm] long, provided with 4 to 6 cataphyls, rachis short, .4 to 1.2" [2 to 3 cm] long, densely 10 to 15 flowereed inflorescence with, single nerved, as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying small white flowers with yellow lip and column.
