Found in Madagascar in lichen rich, montane forests at elevations around 2000 to 2600 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with elongate tubers giving rise to a single, lanceolate to elliptical-lingulate, acute and gradually attenuate basally leaf that blooms in the summer on a glabrous, erect, 2.4" [6 cm] long, few flowered inflorescence with several bracts and carrying non-resupinate, glabrous flowers
