Found in central and eastern Madagascar in peat bogs and in ericaceous scrub at elevations of 1500 to 2400 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with 2, oblong tubers giving rise to a slender, glabrous stem without developed leaves that blooms in the late spring and summer on a subdense, 10 to 30 flowered inflorescence with several bracts and carrying very small, glabrous flowers.
