Found in Zaire, Burundi and Tanzania in upland grasslands at elevations around 1600 to 2000 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing terrestrial with ellipsoid to ovoid, woolly root-tubers giving rise to an erect, slender stem carrying 2, basal, spreading, lanceolate, oblanceolate to elliptical, acuminate, glabrous leaves and a 1 to 3, lanceolate sheaths above that blooms in the summer on a terminal, erect, to 4.4" [11 cm] long, sparsely glandular-hairy, 6 to 25 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute shorter than the ovary floral bract.
