Common Name or Meaning The Sambirano Cynorkis [A river in northwestern Madagascar]

Found in northern and western Madagascar in wet grasslands and on rocks in hills at elevations of 300 to 500 meters as a miniature to small sized, hot growing terrestrial with 2, fusiform tubers giving rise to an erect stem carrying a single, radical, basally clasping, lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, acute to acuminate leaf that blooms in the spring and early summer on a terminal, suberect, glabrous, bare, unilateral to nearly so, to 4" [10 cm] long, 5 to 20 flowered inflorescnece.
