Common Name The Tryphia-Like Cynorchis [Tryphia - A synonym of the Orchid genus Holothrix]

Flower Size .32 to .4" [.8 to 1 cm] long

Found in northwestern Madagascar in grasslands and open dry forests on calcareous rocks in leaf detrius at elevations of 250 to 2000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with 2, radical, ovate, prostrate on the substrate, acute leaves that blooms in the late spring and summer on an erect, glabrous, 2" [5 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with as long as the ovary floral bracts

The orchid in the photo above is Cynorkis tryphioides var. leandriana (H.Perrier) Bosser 1969 and differs from the type in the shape of the short, tri-lobed lip, the shape of the rostellum and it's much larger leaves.
