Found in north and central Madagascar on rocks in rocky outcrops at elevations of sea level to 1200 meters as a medium sized, hot to cool growing litho-terrestrial with 2 oblong-cylindrical tubers giving rise to 4, basal, radical, adpressed to the ground, linear-lanceolate, acute leaves that blooms in the summer on a terminal, erect, glabrous, to 4" [to 10 cm] long, subdense, 7 to 20 flowered inflorescence with elliptical-acuminate, much shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.
