Common Name Boufford's Cypripedium

Flower Size 2" [5 cm]

Found in Western Sichuan at elevations of 4000 to 4200 meters as a miniature to small sized, very cold growing terrestrial with a creeping rhizome giving rise to a short, subterranean, slender stem enveloped at the base by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying 2 subopposite, elliptic to ovate, sparsely pubescent on the dorsal veins leaves that blooms on an erect, single flowered inflorescence

CAUTION Many references put this species as a synonym of C guttatum and it may be an alba variety of that species. I await more information. Seems to be a few differences around the staminodal area.
