Common Name The Wrinkled Cypripedium [refers to the wrinkled lip]

Found in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces of China and eastern Tibet in scrubby grasslands and on forest margins at elevations of 2500 to 4000 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial that blooms in the spring and summer

Often cited as a synonym of C tibeticum but differs in having dark brown flowers with a corrugated lip and the incurved bract that almost presses against the incurved dorsal sepal.
