Found in New Guinea on steep loamy slopes and embankments at elevations around 1000 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with a very short rhizome giving rise to erect to erect-patent, branching, terete, rigid, densely leafy stems carrying erect-patent, elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, acute, unequally bidentate with a minute mucro in between leaves that blooms in the late fall and early winter on an erect-patent, terminal to lateral, shorter than the leaves, few flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, obtuse, equal to shorter than the ovary floral bracts.

Schlechter states that the flowers are yellowish with a white lip. Separated from the similar C rivularis and C montanus by the broad large leaves. Separated from the similar C collinus by the different lip.
