Common Name Segawa's Cypripedium [Japanese Botanist 1900's] - In China Bao Dao Shao Lan

Found in northeastern Taiwan on alpine slopes or in forests at elevations over 3000 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with a stout, creeping rhizome giving rise to an erect, glandular-pubescent stem with 1 to 2, basal sheaths and carrying 3 to 4, elliptic to elliptic-ovate, plicate, pubescent, subacute leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, terminal, single flowered inflorescence with a foliaceous, lanceolate bract
