Common Name The Tibetan Cypripedium - In China Zi Zang Shao Lan

Flower Size 4" [10 cm]

Found in southern Gansu, western guizhou, , western Sichuan, eastern ands southern Xizang, and western Yunnan province of China, Bhutan, Assam India and the eastern Himalayas at elevations of 2200 to 4500 meters in open montane meadows, at the edge of coniferous and mixed woodlands, on open limestone leadges and screes as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with an erect, glabrous, leafy stem enveloped completely by 3 tubular, acuminate sheaths and carrying to 3 orbicular to elliptic-ovate, obtuse to acute, ciliate, acute, acuminate to obtuse leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on a short, drooping, single flowered inflorescence arising before the leaves mature and has a foliaceous, elongate, elliptic to ovate-lanceolate, acute to acuminate, much longer than the ovary floral bract and has a drooping tepal flower.
