Common Name or Meaning The Yunnan Cypripedium - In China Yun Nan Shao Lan

Found in Yunnan province of China in sparse woods and grassy slopes at elevations of 2700 to 3800 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with a stout, short rhizome giving rise to an erect, glabrous to sparsely pubescent stem provided with several basal sheaths and carrying a 3 to 4, elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, acute, glabrous to sparsely puberulous above, puberulous below veins, acuminate leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, erect, to 10" [25 cm] long, peduncle sparsely pubescent in the upper part, single flowered inflorescence with foliaceous, ovate-0elliptic to ovate-lanceolate, both surfaces sparsely pubescent, acute to acuminate, almost twice as long as the ovary floral bracts.
