Common Name The Cuenca Cyrtochilum [A Town in Ecuador]

Flower Size 1.8" [4.5 cm]

The species hails from Ecuador and is a large sized, cold growing epiphyte that is found at elevations of 2000-3500 meters and blooms in the fall on an axillary, erect to arcuate, racemose or paniculate inflorescence of several flowers.

Within Ecuador it cannot be confused with any other species but in Venezuela and Colombia there exists C zebrinum which is similar but C cuencanum differs in the wingless column versus the small, distinct, digitate to palmate wings of C zebrinum.
