Common Name The Two-Winged Cyrtochilum

Flower Size 1.2" [3 cm]

Found in the northern reaches of the central cordillera in Antioquia, Caldas, Quindio and Tolima departments of Colombia in cloud forests at elevations of 2600 to 3400 meters on roadbanks and on the edge of forest clearings as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with narrowly ovoid, apically tapering, laterally compressed, ancipitous, longitudinally grooved in maturity pseudobulbs enveloped basally by 1 to 2 pairs of distichous, imbricating, longitudinally conduplicate, leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying 1 to 2, narrowly lanceolate, acute, narrowing below into the conduplicate, elongate, narrowly petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on an axillary, erect to arching, 19" [48 cm] long, paniculate, 5 to 6 branched, fractiflex, many [to 36] flowered, inflorescence.

Similar to C ioplocon but this one differs in the bicolored sepals and petals and the ventrally straight column.
