Flower Size 1.6" [4 cm]

Found in southwestern Anhui, western Henan, Hunan and Zhejiang provinces of China, Japan, Korea and The Ryukyu Islands in forests at elevations of 1000 to 1300 meters as a medium to large sized, cool to cold growing, mycoheterotrophic terrestrial with a nearly creeping, stout rhizome giving rise to an erect, red-brown stem with the apical half rusty tomentose, that blooms in the later spring and summer on an erect, branching, to 36" [90 cm] long, several to many flowered inflorecence with thin, red banana-like seed pods.
