Found in Goias, Mato Grosso, Rondonia and Sao Paulo states of Brazil at elevations 800 to 1400 meters as a large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with buried, small, ovoid pseudobulbs carrrying coriaecous, plicate, acute leaves that blooms in the early spring on an erect, simple, to 24" [60 cm] long, several to amny flowered inflorescence carrying slightly fragrant flowers.
