Found in Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in wet montane forest on lower limbs and small tree trunks at elevations of 1400 to 2400 meter as a small sized, cool to cold growing, creeping, subcaespitose epiphyte with narrowly ovate-elliptic, lightly complanate, conspicuously spotted, dark greenish brown pseudobulbs enveloped by 2 to 3 pairs of leafless and leaf bearing, conduplicate sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect,ligulate, obliquely bilobed apically, conduplicate below into the tapered, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later summer and early fall on an axillary, terete, erect-arching, 5" [12.5 cm] long, racemose inflorescence with a single tubular bract above the middle and small, clasping floral bracts and carrying 5 to 7, non-resupinate flowers
