Found in Amazonas Peru at elevations around 2200 to 2800 meters as a large sized, cold growing terrestrial with a caespitose to slightly creeping, bracteate rhizome giving rise to oblong-ovoid pseudobulbs enveloped basally by 7 to 8, distichous sheaths and carrying distantly 2, apical, narrowly elliptic to slightly obovate, narrowly acute to broadly acuminate, conduplicate below into the subpetiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on an axillary, erect then wiry, flexuous, paniculate, to 54" [160 cm] long, widely spaced, 3 t o5 flowered side branches, many flowered inflorescence with adpressed, involute, cucullate floral bracts and carrying stellate to slightly campanulate flowers.
