Common Name The Yellow Star Shaped Callus Cyrtochilum

Flower Size 2.4" [6 cm]

Found in El Oro Ecuador to northern Peru at elevations of 1830 to 2430 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial with a caespitose rhizome giving rise to ovoid pseudobulbs enveloped by 4 to 6 distichous, foliaceous sheaths and carrying 2 apical, conduplicate, elliptic, acuminate, subpetiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter on an axillary, from the uppermost sheaths, stiff, erect then wiry, to 6' 8" [200 cm] long overall, paniculate, widely spaced, flexuous, few flowered side branches, many flowered inflorescence with conspicuous, involute-cucullate floral bracts and carrying somewhat stellate flowers.

Very close to C macranthum but C flavostellulare differs in the brownish lip and the bright yellow colored star shaped callus on the lip. C macranthum has a bright yellow and purple lip with a strikingly white and purple callus.
