Common Name Hoeijer's Cyrtochilum [Swedish orchid Enthusiast 20th cen]

Flower Size .32" [.8 cm]

Found in Azuay and Loja Ecuador in upper level cloud forests at elevations around 2500 to 2900 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial or epiphyte with caespitose, narrowly-ovoid sllightly ancipitous pseudobulbs enveloped basally by 6 to 7 distichous, uppermost foliaceous sheaths and carrying a single conduplicate, linear to narrowly ovate, acuminate, subpetiolate basally leaf that blooms in the late summer and early fall on 1 to 2, axillary, arising from the uppermost sheaths, erect, suberect to arching, to 4.8 to 10" [12 to 25 cm] long, peduncle with 1 to 2 adpressed scale like bracts, racemose to paniculate inflorescence with similar yet smaller floral bracts and carrying 2 to 9 flowers that do not open well.
