Common Name The Large Bulbed Cyrtopodium
Flower Size 1.08" [2.7 cm] long,
Found in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama at elevations of sea level to 900 meters as a large sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial or lithophyte with erect, rigid, long-fusiform, somewhat laterally compressed, enveloped in youth by foliaceous sheaths and carrying attenuate, acute, conspicuously 3 nerved leaves that blooms in the spring on a lateral, to 44" [1.1 meter] long, paniculate, peduncle purple, enveloped by a few large, somewhat undulate, greenish yellow sheaths, many flowered inflorescence.
Found in Mexico and according to Weyman Bussey has to be different than C punctatum because of C macrobulbum has protuberances around the lip margin.
Most authorities place this taxon as C punctatum.
